Our clients loved their charming home, and they had no intention of moving. However, they value spending time with family and friends, and their house felt closed off and did not offer the optimal social setting they desired. So they contacted us looking for an Austin, Texas area remodeling contractor for a complete kitchen renovation.
The original kitchen layout presented a compact galley style that was tight and cavernous. Specifically, the wall between the kitchen and living room impeded the flow. They envisioned that removing the wall would open the place up for gathering with family and friends by connecting the kitchen and family room. They also know that remodeling provided an investment opportunity that would improve the overall value and beauty of their home.
The compact galley-style footprint of the kitchen presented a few challenges in regards to space. So we designed the kitchen cabinets to maximize countertop workspace and storage. We constructed the cabinets around the fridge offering a built-in look. Also, we build a tall pantry above.
The gorgeous custom-built cherry wood cabinetry features flat panel doors. The uniform direction of the wood grain pattern throughout the kitchen spotlights a unique design feature. Other noteworthy features include the stunning Soapstone countertops and backplash. We used a custom stainless steel panel above the range and behind the vent hood.
The cabinets come outfitted with LED lights mounted under the top cabinets and with under-cabinet lighting below. In addition, we added a double pull-out trashcan drawer that hold two.
We replaced the old lighting with dimmable can lights throughout the kitchen brighten the room up. For appliances, we went with stainless steel throughout to complement to Soapstone countertops and to offer a consistent look. The flooring features field tiles that mimic the look of wood – a fairly new and trendy material option.
